About the Author
Jerry J. Weygandt, PhD, CPA, is Arthur Andersen Alumni Emeritus Professor of Accounting at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He earned his doctorate in accounting from the University of Illinois and has published extensively in leading academic and professional journals, including The Accounting Review and Journal of Accounting Research. A former President of the American Accounting Association, he has served on key professional bodies such as the AICPA and FASB task forces. Professor Weygandt has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and accounting education, including the American Accounting Association’s Outstanding Educator Award. He is widely recognized for his contributions to accounting pedagogy and curriculum development worldwide.
Paul D. Kimmel, PhD, CPA, is a former Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and Senior Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He holds a doctorate in accounting from the University of Wisconsin and has professional experience with Deloitte & Touche. Dr. Kimmel has received multiple teaching excellence awards, including the Elijah Watts Sells Award for exceptional performance on the CPA Examination. His research has appeared in journals such as Accounting Horizons and Journal of Accounting Education. He is known for his student-friendly teaching approach and strong emphasis on conceptual clarity and application in accounting education.
Jill E. Mitchell, MS, MEd, CIA, is a Lecturer at the McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia. She has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate, graduate, hybrid, and online accounting programmes, and previously taught at Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason University. A former senior auditor at Ernst & Young, she brings strong professional relevance to the classroom. Ms. Mitchell has held leadership roles in professional bodies such as the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance and the Virginia Society of CPAs.
